If you are one of the many Americans who has been anxiously waiting for the new season of the Great British Baking Show to pop up on PBS, you can stop checking your DVR. The new season of the show has found a home on Netflix, where re-runs of the series are also available. The great news is that you won’t have to wait very long for them as they are set to drop on the streaming network August 31st.
Along with the new home, the show has also undergone some major changes. Paul Hollywood remains, but sadly, Mary Berry, Mel Giedroyc, and Sue Perkins have all left the show. In their place is a new judge by way of Prue Leith, and new hosts in the form of Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.
There was some initial uproar when the show moved from a non-profit network to a profit network, but it doesn’t seem to have affected the ratings for the new season in the UK. There’s a good chance that US audiences won’t notice that aspect of it as Netflix doesn’t run commercials during their shows.
