‘Green Lantern’ Finds New Life As HBO Max Series

The Green Lantern has not had great luck in the live-action realm. In fact, the 2011 Ryan Reynolds film is literally a joke made in both Deadpool films. While there were hopes that Zack Snyder was going to be able to introduce the Green Lantern in the unaltered version of Justice League, for now, we will at least be getting a small-screen version of the hero thanks to one of two new shows heading to HBO Max.

Earlier tonight it was announced that Greg Berlanti, the man behind much of the CW’s Arrowverse is developing shows based on The Green Lantern and the comic Strange Adventures for the soon-to-launch streaming network.

“Both of these original DC properties we’ll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television,” said Berlanti. “An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can’t reveal any more about that just yet.”

That’s all the information we’re getting for now, but there’s a good chance new details will drop around the end of the year if The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover is used to give us a tease of what’s to come.
