Green Lantern TV Series Officially… Greenlit

After being sent to adaptation time-out after Ryan Reynold’s film, The Green Lantern is officially back according to a new report from Variety. the series, which has been in development for over a year by Marc Guggenheim and Seth Grahame-Smith will give the Lantern Corps a massive new canvas on which to play. But, if you are looking for a John Stewart or Hal Jordan, you are out of luck. The new series will be focusing on Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott. On a side note, HBO Max will be honoring the comic book source material to make sure that Scott, the Earth’s first Lantern will still be gay. The show will also feature Sinestro, Kilowog, and several new characters that are being created specifically for the series.

The Grahame-Smith will act as showrunner with Berlanti Productions (all the CW Arrowverse shows) will be producing. While details on the show are sparse, we currently know that HBO has ordered a 10-episode first season.
