I’m very happy to hear both parts of this report. Don’t get me wrong, I love his work, but I just can’t picture him in connection to Star Wars. Perhaps that will change after I see Pacific Rime (which can’t happen soon enough!)
The report about Star Wars came through an interview with Playlist, where he simply said:
“We got one phone call to my agent saying, ‘Is Guillermo interested?’ ” he revealed saying, “And basically I have so much stuff already of my own, and I’m pursuing stuff that I’m generating already…” that he turned it down. “It was just a phone call, it didn’t go past that, it was very nice to be asked, but believe it or not, I’m busy enough.”
Interestingly, he did offer up an alternative – He wants Brad Bird to do it.
He also took some time to talk about At the Mountains of Madness. Initially, he had canned the project over budget issues and Similarities to Prometheus. Now he’s saying that he’d like to give the movie one more try and that he even still has Tom Cruise attached to star.
