Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’ is considered an epic by fans. Not only was it a great book, but many people consider the TV mini series that was based off it to be a classic. For the last several years, there has been talk of bringing the story to the big screen and now two of the big talents behind the most successful part of the Harry Potter franchise have hopped aboard to help make it a reality.
Steve Kloves was the screenwriter for every chapter of the Harry Potter series with the exception of ‘Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix,’ and David Yates, the director of the final four potter films including the #1 movie of 2011 “Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part Two” will be working together to make The Stand into their next multi-film epic.
The deals are not final, but sources say that discussions are well under way for both parties.
Official synopsis:
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides — or are chosen. A world in which good rides on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abigail — and the worst nightmares of evil are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg, the dark man.
