Harry Potter Has A Mobile RPG On The Way

It looks like the new augmented reality game won’t be the only Harry Potter app about to blow up phones. Warner Bros is announcing that they are also planning a Harry Potter-based mobile RPG. In the game, you’ll be sorted into houses and actually be able to attend a virtual Hogwarts. Jam City, the company developing the game, told THR that they were inspired by the popularity of Stranger Things to set the game in the 1980’s. This means that you may run into Harry’s parents, but you won’t be seeing him, Hermione, or Ron anywhere in the game. I’m sure that licensing the likeness rights had nothing to do with that.

According to WB and [game developer] Jam City, most of the iconic professors from Hogwarts will appear in the game. “‘Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery’ is a mobile gaming experience inspired by J.K. Rowling’s spellbinding lore, and it will be an exciting, fun way for fans to experience the Wizarding World,” said David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of Jam City, added, “This game is a labor of love for our developers and artists, who are dedicated to creating the most magical entertainment and game play experience for everyone who adores J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World.”
