We are getting a lot of mixed messages from this new Hellboy reboot starring David Harbour. Fans were pitched a darker and more violent version of the hero than we saw in either of the two Guillermo Del Toro films, but then we got a trailer that had a decidedly goofy vibe to it. Today we are getting news that takes us back towards the darkside we were hoping for. It looks like the MPAA has rated the film with an R for “strong bloody violence and gore throughout, and language.”
Along with Harbor as Big Red, the movie also stars Ian McShane as Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich as the antagonist Nimue along with Daniel Dae Kim, Sasha Lane, Brian Gleeson, Sophie Okonedo, Penelope Mitchell, and Allstair Petrie. Hellboy is set to hit theaters on April 12th.
