Before you ask, no. Neither Guillermo Del Toro or Ron Perlman are attached to this reboot. There aren’t many details as of yet, but there are some big questions about feelings. It wasn’t too long ago that Guillermo Del Toro took to social media to explain why we’d probably never get the third movie in the Hellboy trilogy. The news broke a lot of hearts in the fan community, but they accepted it and move on. While it’s great to see Hellboy getting more big studio love, it is going to be hard for a lot of people to leave behind Ron Perlman’s iconic role and unfinished storyline in exchange for a brand new start. News of the reboot came directly from Hellboy Creator, Mike Mignolia via Twitter:
Okay, here’s some news–
There IS going to be another HELLBOY MOVIE.
It’s going to be an R rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and staring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.
More news to come soon–
While I like David Harbour, I worry about the fact that the initial announcement wants to make sure we know it is going to be an R-Rated movie. It almost reads like “Hey, did ya like Deadpool? Cause we’ve got another one for ya right here!”
Time will tell.
