Variety is reporting that Hugh Jackman is production company, Seed Productions are not slowing down now that Wolverine is on the big screen. Seed and Fox are already in development for a sequel to Wolverine.
The Seed partners have begun planning the sequel, which they are squarely focusing on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series, and whose Japanese locale was teased after the film’s final credits. A writer has yet to be hired. Seed will produce.
Additionally, Fox has just acquired “Personal Security,” in which Jackman will star as a tough NYC police detective forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who is receiving kidnapping threats.
But wait there’s more. There’s a good chance that he’ll also be involved in the Seed produced film, Drive, based on the novel by James Sallis. In that one, he’ll play a solitary man who drives race cars by day and getaway cars by night in Los Angeles.
finally, Fox is now putting high priority on the big screen adaptation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. Jackman will play Billy Bigelow and he’s fighting hard to get Anne Hathaway for the role of Julie Jordan.
But that’s not all. Jackman is also hoping to head back to Broadway to star in “Houdini” a musical directed by the director of Hairspray, and with music done by none other than Danny Elfman.
All I can say is that I’m exhausted just looking at this man’s schedule.
You’ve seen Jackman with claws and rage lately, check him out singing singing the Soliloquy from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic, Carousel in Concert 6/6/02 at Carnegie Hall, NYC.
