Hugo Weaving In Negotiations To Play The Red Skull In ‘First Avengers’

Heat Vision reports that Hugo Weaving is in negotiations with Marvel Studios to play the villain Red Skull in Joe Johnston’s “The First Avenger: Captain America.” This comes out of the left park as we’ve been so engorged with the search for Captain America that we’ve completely forgotten about the villain.

If Weaving does get the role, it’d mark the third time he’s appeared as a major villain in an action flick. Following his excellent performance as the cold and calculated Agent Smith from “The Matrix” and the mighty Megatron from “Transformers.”

It’s not hard to imagine Weaving as a Nazi with a red skull for a head, and I for one, am championing for Weaving to get the role. The process is currently in a delicate stage, but we should know the outcome soon enough. And hopefully by then we’d also have our Captain America.
