In a recent interview with MTV director Jon Favreau (Iron Man) says his third film staring Robert Downey Jr. will be a sequel to not only “Thor,” “Captain America,” but also “The Avengers.”
Favreau’s not sure what other directors namely Joss Whedon, Kenneth Branagh and Joe Johnston have planned for their films, but “Iron Man 3” will be the film that binds them all together.
“I’ve talked to Kenneth Branagh … I had a conversation with Joss Whedon in passing, giving him my two cents about the film… In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America, and Avengers.”
This should be interest and it begs to ask whether “Iron Man 3” would be similar to “The Avengers” or merely feature a now Avengers’ Tony Stark in Avengers HQ with cameos by Thor and Captain America, etc.
In the meantime, location scouting for “Iron Man 3” us underway and reportedly it will be filmed in Troy, New York. This location is reported to be the hideout for the yet to be named villain(s) which has long since been rumored to be the Manderin.
A local news source for the city confirms that Marvel is interested in using Troy’s EMPAC building, which stands for Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center, created by the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
“Iron Man 3” is schedule to debut in May 3rd, 2013. I guess only time will tell.
