While Robert Downey Jr might never do another Iron Man film, he’s sure as hell going to be in every possible MCU film that Disney can pay him enough to find interesting. Variety is now confirming rumors that RDJ will be putting the suit on for the upcoming Spider-Man solo film starring Tom Holland and being produced by both Sony and Disney.
My only concern with this announcement is that it could potentially be a little spoilerish. Does this mean that the relationship between the two is still intact at the end of Civil War? In the comics, Spidey started with Iron Man but ended up on the other end of the aisle when he got a better idea of what that really meant.
There’s no word on whether or not this means we’ll see any other MCU regulars in the film, but it does almost guarantee that we’ll get to see the Iron Spider costume in live action.. well, CGI at the very least.
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
