Hitfix is reporting that John C. Reilly is coming back to Disney to be a part of Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.
While most people would expect to see him taking on the role of someone like Groot or Rocket Raccoon, it turns out that he’ll be playing a decidedly more terrestrial role.
Word is that he’ll be playing the role of Rhomann Dey, an earthling who acts as the liason between the Guardians and the Earth-based S.H.I.E.L.D.
So… think of him as the Guardians’ personal Agent Coulson.
If he does sign on, he’ll be joining a cast that already includes: Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) and Michael Rooker (Yondu).
Guardians Of The Galaxy is out in theaters August 1, 2014.
