John Cena is on his way to becoming the next big movie star to break out from the WWE, after Dwayne, The Rock Johnson. He’s had a string of hits including the Daddy’s Home films and Trainwreck, along with a growing list of voice over hits including voicing the lead character in Ferdinand and landing the voice of the big bad (Baron Draxum) in the upcoming Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series reboot. He’s even slated to appear in the upcoming Transformers spin-off, Bumblebee.
THR is reporting that the wrestler turned actor is in talks to potentially take the lead in a new franchise based on the classic PC game, Duke Nukem. The bad news here for Cena is that this movie is probably going to suck. It’s a video game movie; statistically, it seems almost inevitable. The good news for him is that no one will expect it to be good, so he won’t be blamed for it. Even better, the film is being produced by Michael Bay, so it’s probably going to have just the right amount of explosions that you’d want to from a Duke Nukem film.
