A few hours ago, Sony revealed to the world that plans are underway to release an untitled Marvel movie in 2021. With Venom 2 in production and Morbius heading to theaters later this year, fans are guessing what that movie could be. Now, a new rumor that’s popped up online is claiming that the new film could be none other than Spider-Woman.
On its surface, the idea of a Spider-Woman film does make sense. After all, Sony has been trying to bring the females of the Spider-Verse to the forefront with projects dedicated to Madame Web, Black Cat, Silver Sable, and Jackpot all allegedly in the offing. So, Spider-Woman does seem like a natural choice. It is interesting to point out that both Disney and Sony have claim to the Jessica Drew character. Disney is allowed to use her as a secret agent, but only Sony can use her as Spider-Woman. This is not much different than the way FOX and Disney shared Quicksilver.
As with all rumors, take it with a grain of salt, but this is one we could definitely see Sony bringing to Fruition. Now we just have to wonder if they could bring Mike Colter back into the mix and let the love story between Spider-Woman and Luke Cage happen in live-action.
