Perhaps I’m just getting a bad case of old man syndrome, but hearing Bill Skarsgaard’s Pennywise laugh in this trailer just makes me think of how much better Tim Curry was in this role. Yes, I know that this is just a trailer, but he’s missing that clownish quality in his voice, so all that’s left if high-pitched and sinister. Combine that with a trailer that is attempting to build tension by having ghost Georgie repeating “You’ll Float Too” in an escalating tone until we get the inevitable, but entirely unsurprising jump scare… I’m not not excited. But hey, at least now we know that the film is part of a larger, Stephen King expanded film universe. That’s something we all needed and wanted, right?

New Line Cinema’s horror thriller “IT,” directed by Andrés Muschietti (“Mama”), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades.
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
