Recently James Cameron spoke with MTV about his plans to possibly move forward with adapting Yukito Kishiro’s “Battle Angel Alita” before doing his own “Avatar” sequel. One of the reasons is because Cameron felt from a CG and FX perspective, “Battle Angel Alita” is more challenging, and he’s at a point in his career where his main focus is with pushing the limitations of modern CG and FX.
“They’re both possible projects,” Cameron recently told MTV.
“I’m sort of weighing this constellation of really cool things I want to do.”
“There’s ‘X’ amount of time available, and I do want to do another ‘Avatar’ film — probably two — and I’m talking to Fox about that now, There’s a strong possibility that I might insert one of these other movies in between before I do that. It’s all up in the air right now.”
“The mixture of live-action and CG is a little trickier in 3-D than it is 2-D,”
“Now we see it’s good to have done ‘Avatar’ first before ‘Battle Angel,’ because the tricky scenes are where you’re blending live-action photography, stereoscopic photography and CG.”
