Jamie Blackley has been given the lead role in the Noam Murro directed upcoming “300” sequel, “300: The Battle of Artemisium.”
Blackley will play Calisto, “a teen whose desire to become the heroic man/soldier his father was leads the 16-year-old to become a leader of a small band of soldiers.” He will join the previously announced Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom) as Xerxes, and Eva Green as Artemisia.
Blackley does not have much to his credit, and to be honest, I am not familiar with him at all. But it’s good to see that the film is progressing, abet very slowly. Hopefully now that the lead is set, production would move at a quicker pace.
“The Battle of Artemisium” follows the Persian king-turned-god Xerxes as he leads “an army against Greek forces, who have little training but are under the guidance of a general named Themistokles.”
