Disney has cast Jane Lynch (Glee), Donald Glover (Community) and Danny Trejo (Machette) in Jason Segel’s “The Muppets.” They will join crazy funny man Zack Galifianakis (Due Date) as cameo stars in smaller roles while Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper will star and take lead.
From what we know, Jane Lynch has been cast as a prison guard and Danny Trejo will play a prisoner. Glover’s role is currently not known.
Directed by James Bobin (Flight of the Conchords) the film will be based on a script co-written by Nicolas Stoller and Jason Segel.
“The Muppets” is loosely based on a original idea from Jim Henson called “The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made.” It stars Gonzo who has been hired as a film director, but blows all his budget the first day. From there, he’s forced to finish the picture with only the help of his Muppet and human friends.
Fans can expect the film to drop on Christmas Day next year.
