Jared Harris has been cast as Moriarty in Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” sequel as reported by Latino Review. Harris will play the main villain, Professor Moriarty, beating out previously rumored front runners Brad Pitt and Daniel Day Lewis.
This comes as a surprised, mostly because I have absolutely no idea who Harris is (no offense Mr. Harris Sir!) But after some digging, he is apparently the son of actor Richard Harris, who currently stars in AMC’s “Mad Men.” Because I’ve never seen Harris in anything (although he’s been credited as a returning character in FOX’s Fringe), I can’t really comment on whether I should be thrilled with this news. But I will say, he certainly looks the part of a villain (again, no offense Mr. Harris Sir!)
Both Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will return for the Sherlock Holmes sequel, joined by Noomi Rapace as the unknown female lead and Stephen Fry as Sherlock’s brother, Mycroft Holmes.
With that said however, I’m looking forward to “Sherlock Holmes 2,” as I enjoyed the original last year and having Moriarty in the next installment is pure icing on the cake.
