A lot of comic book fans are still unhappy with Jared Leto over his performance as The Joker in the DCEU film, Suicide Squad, but it looks like the actor may get a chance at comic book movie redemption via Sony’s Spider-Verse.
Variety is reporting that The Notebook star has signed on to star as Morbius The Living Vampire with director Daniel Espinoza. If you aren’t familiar with the character, he’s a doctor who accidentally turns himself into a vampire while trying to cure himself of a blood disease.
There’s no word on whether he will ever interact with Spider-Man in the new film or if the property will be part of the new Sony Spider-Manless universe that currently includes Tom Hardy’s Venom, and the continually delayed Silver Sable/ Black Cat movie, Silver and Black.
On top of it all, Leto isn’t done playing The Joker. There’s a chance that he could be appearing in Suicide Squad 2 and his character is in currently in development for his own solo film.
