Jem and the Holograms Pulled From Theaters After 2 Weeks

News of a Jem and the Holograms film excited a lot of 80’s kids, but the trailer was not exactly inspiring. That probably helped cause the film’s removal from theaters after just two weeks of wide release.

The Jon Chu (GI Joe and GI Joe Retaliation) directed film, luckily only had a budget of $5 million, so the studio isn’t exactly going to lose its shirt. That said, The film has only managed to earn $2,184,640 in it’s first two weeks of wide release. Breaking that down even further, the movie opened in 2,417 theaters. That means that it has earned just $570 per screen, since it’s release.

Analysts are reporting that the film may actually be the worst opening in the history of Universal Studios.
