With all the talk of Bong Joon Ho’s latest film, Okja, lately, you could almost forget that Scott Derrickson is turning Snowpiercer into a TV series. Today we just got excellent news that Jennifer Connelly will be joining him for a role in the new show.
According to reports, Connelly will be playing the part of Melanie Cavill, a First Class passenger, working as The Voice of The Train. Unlike the other first class passengers, who don’t care about the poor people in the back of the train, she finds herself fascinated by them. She joins a cast that, so far, only includes Daveed Diggs as Layton Well, a prisoner who ends up reluctantly involved in the trains class struggle.
It will be interesting to see how this show fits into the universe that Bong Joon Ho created with the film. We know it can’t be a sequel, but it could be either an alternate universe type telling of the train, or we could possibly be looking at events that took place several years prior to the events of the film.
