Variety is now reporting that Jennifer Lee and Pete Docter will be dividing up the job of running Disney Animation and Pixar that was formerly filled by John Lasseter. Lee, who is best known for her role as director of ‘Frozen’ will be taking over as the chief creative officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Meanwhile, Docter, director of “Inside Out,” will be chief creative officer at Pixar Animation Studios.
As it has been previously reported, Lasseter is exiting his role at Disney after some inappropriate workplace behavior came to light. Having just returned from a Sabattical, he is currently consulting for Disney but doesn’t even have an office on the property anymore.
Here’s what Lee had to say about the new gig:
“Animation is the most collaborative art form in the world, and it is with the partnership of my fellow filmmakers, artists, and innovators that we look ahead to the future. My hope is to support the incredible talent we have, find new voices, and work together to tell original stories.”
Here’s Doctor’s statement:
“I started here 28 years ago. I am fortunate to work alongside some of the most talented people on the planet, and together we will keep pushing animation in new directions, using the latest technology to tell stories we hope will surprise and delight audiences around the world.”
