If there was an an academy award for the little franchise that could, John Wick would be the hand’s down winner. The first movie came out of nowhere and turned into an international blockbuster. The second movie is considered by many to be as good or possibly better. Now, we already know that TV series is being planned that takes place within the Wickiverse, and the third film has been given an official release date of May 17, 2019. Announcement not only shows just how far the franchise as come, but it shows how much faith the studio has in the action series, as they’ve placed it just after the release of Avengers 4 and just a week ahead of both the Live action Aladdin movie and the Minecraft movie.

John Wick: Chapter 2 director Chad Stahleski is currently in talks to return for the film and is hoping to make a movie that focuses more on the intricacies of the assassins’ world instead of just trying to make something bigger, with more explosions. They hope to start filming towards the end of this year or the beginning of 2018.

That’s great and all, but this just means we are going to have to wait that much longer until we finally get our third Bill and Ted movie.
