If you were to go by just the trailer for John Wick 4, you would guess that Keanu Reeves’s titular character has a lot to say in the new installment of the franchise. It turns out that he speaks more in the trailer than he does for the first twenty-five minutes of the film and that the words in the ad make up 10% of his total dialogue.
In the new report from Deadline, it’s been revealed that the reason is Reeve’s himself slashed 50% of his own words from the script. In fact, his longest line of dialogue in the entire movie is in a scene with co-star Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays Shimazu Koji where Wick says, “You and I left a good life behind a long time ago, my friend.”
If this has you worried that you won’t get the same John Wick you’ve grown accustomed to in previous chapters. Remember, he only had 484 words. However, that was spread over just 101 minutes while this time he’ll be spreading 380 over 169 minutes.
