With Todd Philip’s Joker film well into production, it isn’t surprising that more and more news has come out about the movie. That said, this is still an unexpected treat. The 30-second video appears to be a make-up test of Joaquin Phoenix in clown make-up. We don’t expect that to be the final look of The Joker, but it wouldn’t be surprising if that is one of the first looks that he tries on as he evolves into the clown prince of crime.
Along with Joaquin Phoenix, Joker also stars Robert De Niro, Zazie Beets, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, Douglas Hodge, Josh Pais, and Brett Cullen. Joker opens in theaters on October 4, 2019.
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
The new series is set for a two-episode premiere, June 4 on Disney+.
