In a move by Marvel that only makes sense. Deadline reports that Marvel Studios is in final negotiations with geek folk legend Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse, Firefly) to direct Marvel Studios’ upcoming mega epic “The Avengers.”
“The Avengers” is one of the most ambitious films to date that expects to unite an all-star team of Marvel superheroes that include Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), as well as S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).
Whedon has been rumored to be in the running since the beginning of April and makes an interesting if not ideal choice especially with his resume heavily rooted in the comic lore.
Well have more as this develops. “The Avengers” is slated to drop in May of 2012.
