Two-time Oscar winner Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves, Fields of Dreams) has been cast in Zack Snyder’s “Superman” reboot. He will play a pivotal role in the film as Clark Kent’s (Superman) adoptive father Jonathan Kent in Smallville.
Costner will join Henry Cavill (Superman), the only other current cast member to be officially announced for the reboot of the Superman franchise. Snyder’s still looking for his female lead (not Lois Lane), but with filming not expected to start until sometime this summer, we could be in for a few more months of casting rumors before his choice is made public.
The “Superman” reboot will be based on the script written by David S. Goyer (with help from Christopher Nolan).
Warner Bros is aiming for a December 2012 release.
Costner was most recently seen in the indie drama “The Company Men” and is currently working on “The One,” which he’ll supposedly be directing, producing and star in.
