THR is reporting that Marvel Cinematic Universe architect and big boss, Kevin Feige is heading is jumping franchises to produce an upcoming Star Wars film. The news came in an interview with Disney exec, Alan Horn:
“We are excited about the projects Kathy [Kennedy] and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”
Reportedly, Feige is far enough along in the process that he’s already approached an unnamed actor about potentially joining up for a major role. Now the question among some fans is whether this is just Kevin playing in another sandbox, or if this is Disney’s audition to see if he might be the best brain to replace the embattled Kathleen Kennedy.
