While we don’t make it a habit to cover music videos here’s a very unusual but interesting one featuring not only a cosplaying Kirsten Dunst patrolling Tokyo’s Akihabara shopping district as a quasi-sailor moon character. The music video is directed by McG (Terminator Salvation) and artist Takashi Murakami. Both McG and Dunst have said in the past that they’ve liked “Sailor Moon,” so that could explain the homage.
The music video is titled “Akihabara Majokko Princess” and has aired at London’s Tate Modern museum as part of the Pop Life: Art In A Material World exhibit. The video is quirky, very J-poppy and showcases the life of an otaku. So if you’re allergic to any of that then it’s best not to watch before falling into an uncontrollable seizure. Did I mention the video is also NSFW due to cartoon boobs? Yup, they’re unavoidable in all things Japanese so watch with caution.
