the new GI Joe Retaliation trailer just hit… in Korea, and while a lot of the footage is the same, it looks like there’s one major bonus that we didn’t get in the US version. It turns out that the marketing in Korea is going to be giving added focus to Byung-hun Lee (Stormshadow), one of the few Asian members of the cast and a native of Korea himself.
Still, I enjoyed watching this trailer more than the whole of GI Joe Rise of Cobra. It is the rare franchise that bombs that hard on a first film and is ever able to recover.
Here’s a brief film synopsis:
A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
