‘Lightyear’ – First Trailer For Pixar’s Origin Tale Behind The Toy Story Character Starring Chris Evans

This morning Disney dropped their first teaser trailer for a movie, we honestly weren’t really expecting. Lightyear isn’t the continuing adventures of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story with Tim Allen coming back to voice his character again. No, this is a movie about the man who inspired the toy inside the Toy Story universe, who will be voiced by Chris Evans.

Other than the fact that it’s the origin tale of the character, there’s really not a lot that we know about it. All we can say is that the trailer sets up an awesome looking space adventure that might be Pixar’s most mature film to date. Here’s what Evans had to say about taking up the mantle of the iconic Pixar character:

“The phrase ‘a dream come true’ gets thrown around a lot, but I’ve never meant it more in my life. Anyone who knows me knows that my love for animated films runs deep. I can’t believe that I get to be a part of the Pixar family and work with these truly brilliant artists who tell stories unlike anyone else. Watching them work is nothing short of magic. I pinch myself every day.”

To infinity and … 🚀 Experience the origin story of a Space Ranger in Disney and Pixar’s #Lightyear, in theaters Summer 2022. 💫 Check out a brand-new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s “Lightyear,” an original feature film releasing June 17, 2022. The sci-fi action-adventure presents the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear—the hero who inspired the toy—introducing the legendary Space Ranger who would win generations of fans. Chris Evans lends his voice to Buzz. Annie Award-winning director and veteran Pixar animator Angus MacLane helms “Lightyear.” Galyn Susman produces.
