Saoise Ronan (The Lovely Bones) is set to fill the lead role of director Joe Wright’s (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement, The Soloist) next project “Hanna.” A story about a “14-year-old Eastern European girl who has been raised by her father to be a cold-blooded killing machine.”

This won’t be the first time Ronan has worked with Wright, as they first connected in “Atonement,” where she worked alongside Keira Knightley and was even nominated for an Oscar.

“Hanna” is said to resemble “La Femme Nikita” and the Bourne franchise, but will feature an ultra violent young female action hero. With “Kick-Ass” also sharing a similar premise, it seems as if Hollywood is finally catching up to this trend/fantasy which has been popular in Japan for quite some time. Think, Go Go from “Kill Bill.”

Focus Features will distribute and filming will begin later this year in Europe. More on “Hana” as we get news.
