Polarizing director M. Night Shyamalan recently joined Twitter and has been tweeting updates about his new sci-fi thriller film staring Will and Jaden Smith.
Originally titled “One Thousand A.E.,” Shyamalan announced that it will now be called “After Earth.” The story is set 1,000 years in the future and stars Jaden and Will who crash lands on a deserted Earth after having been abandoned by humans.
According to Shyamalan filming for “After Earth” will being in nine weeks.
The last time Will and Jaden started in a movie together was the 2006 drama “The Pursuit of Happyness.”
Columbia seems to have a lot of faith in Shyamalan and as intrigued by the premise, I still have my doubts, as with probably most of you. While I’m not certain “After Earth” will be the film to salvage Shyamalan’s career, if it’s remotely any good, it could act as a very strong Band Aid to stop what is already a gaping almost fatal wound.
