Mandalay Gets Movie Rights For Full Metal Panic

Oh Yeah.. another adaptation of a popular license… well at least it’s not another board game or a breakfast cereal. This time, we’re looking at an anime license, and no, Leonardo Di Caprio isn’t the one who bought it. That would be Mandalay.

They’ve acquired the theatrical rights to develop a big-screen version of “Full Metal Panic,” the popular Japanese manga series that blends action, comedy and high school romance. The anime is known for mixing action with a wry sense of comedy, which probably means that producers are already looking at Michael Cera for the lead.

If that is the case, he’ll have company. Zac Effron is already in contention for the role.
