Good news for those that have been anticipating a Barbie movie! News broke today that Warner Bros. is pushing forward with the film and is in talks with Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad) and Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) to star and direct the famous and sometimes controversial iconic Mattel doll.
After years of being stuck in development hell at Sony, Mattel has taken back the license and is now partnering with Warner Bros. for the feature film. Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway were once previously attached to play Barbie, however, nothing materialized from development turmoil which kept pushing back the release from a 2018 date to 2020.
Robbie, who has a first-look producing deal at Warner Bros. will likely also produce the film under her LuckyChap banner.
