‘Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds’ Announced

It’s been a decade since the last Marvel vs. Capcom game and yesterday it was announced to the delight of 2D fighters and comic book enthusiasts that Capcom will be releasing Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds in spring 2011 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

The title will feature more than 30 characters from the Capcom and Marvel universe in an insane 3-on-3 tag team battle. Similar to Capcom’s recent Street Fighter IV and the upcoming Super Street Fighter IV, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will in fact be 3D fighting on a 2D plane. But unlike SF4, the game will run on an “advanced version” of MT Framework, the same engine that currently powers Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5.

We believe the game will resemble another insane Capcom fighter Tatsunoko vs Capcom, but perhaps with updated graphics.

A demo trailer which shows absolutely zero in game graphics has also been released. It shows Wolverine, the Hulk, Iron Man, fighting Street Fighter’s Ryu, Darkstalker’s Morrigan and Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield. Characters that have already been confirmed for MvC3. A silhouette image has also been revealed that hints at the possible appearances of Captain America, Super Skrull, Chun-Li, Deadpool, Felicia, Dante or Nero, Spencer or Wesker, Mephisto, Rad Spencer and Doctor Doom.

At the time, no DLC plans have been locked in according to Capcom’s Seth Killian.

Lastly, unlike previous MvC games, MvC3 is expected to have a strong storyline.

“It’s important that game’s have strong stories for Marvel,” Chris Baker, the manager of licensed games at Marvel Studios says. “With fighting games it’s not as essential as an action game or role playing game but we are very much insisting there be some cohesive kind of story for this game.

“We actually have a subtitle for the game that means something this time. In the coming months we will be giving you more information about it.”
