Marvel’s ‘Alias’ Comic Book Being Adapted For TV In ‘AKA Jessica Jones’

Marvel is developing “AKA Jessica Jones,” a new television series for ABC based on Brian Michael Bendis’ “Alias” comic book about an ex-superhero private eye named Jessica Jones.

According to Variety, “Twilight” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will adapt the character for her next TV project. In addition Rosenberg will serve as the writer and executive producer alongside Jeph Loeb and Joe Quesada. Bendis will serve as a consultant.

“AKA Jessica Jones” is expected to become Marvel TV’s first official project for ABC as it’s far along in development.

Created by Bendis, Jessica Jones is a relatively new and obscure character in the Marvel universe that appeared for the first time in the short lived series “Alias,” that was a part of Marvel’s MAX imprint for mature readers. The series followed the adventures of an ex-superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and had decided to take up work as a private investigator. Jones currently appears within the stories of “The New Avengers,” and is a mother and wife of another superhero, Luke Cage.
