Deadline is reporting that former “Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior” actor Matt Ryan has been cast as the title character in NBC’s upcoming pilot “Constantine.”
Not much is known about the plot aside from this excerpt: “When the daughter of a late friend is targeted by demons, Constantine steps in to save her.”
Written by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) and Daniel Cerone (“The Mentalist”), NBC has officially ordered a pilot for “Consantine” which will be helmed by The Descent’s Neil Marshall.
Created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and John Totleben, John Constantine made his debut during the author’s run on “Swamp Thing” in 1985. He received his own series, “Hellblazer,” under DC’s Vertigo imprint in 1988. Keanu Reeves previously played the character on the big screen in Warner Bros.’ 2005 film horror Sci-Fi “Constantine.”
