‘Men In Black: International’ Wins Disappointing Box Office Weekend

Two big movies came out this weekend, but neither of them had particularly big opening numbers from the box office. The movies I’m talking about are Men In Black: International and Shaft. While I wasn’t expecting much from the newest soft reboot/sequel of the Shaft franchise, I was expecting more from a MIB film starring Avengers: Endgame co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Well, I was until Rottentomatoes.com gave it 23%.

Now that the numbers are in, we know that MIB took in an anemic $28 million on a $110 million production budget. The good news is that it took in an additional $108 million internationally, so the film might actually turn a profit when all is said and done.

For its part, Shaft opened in 6th place with just $8.3 million domestically and no international release. the Tim Story directed film stars Samuel L. Jackson, Regina Hall, Regina Hall, Richard Roundtree, Jessie Usher, and Method Man and is the follow up to the 2001 soft reboot of the original Richard Roundtree film, this time with Jackson as the iconic dick who gets all the chicks.
