In a recent interview with LA Times, Transformer director Michael Bay insists that he plans to dial down the explosions and focus more on character in “Transformers 3.”
Noticeably different is that it won’t be as “robot-heavy” and that, “There will be a nice crescendo ending.”
According to Bay, “It gets much more into the robot character. The last time you kind of met a few of the robots; this time you’re gonna get a much cooler landscape.”
Of course, Bay also said that Megaton wouldn’t appear in the sequel and he did, so I wouldn’t worry too much about the trilogy being explosion free or a heart felt sentimental robot drama. Things will still blow up, robots heads will still clash. One interesting thing to note however is Bay’s use of the term landscape.
Does this mean we’ll finally see Cybertron, the home world of the Transformers? So far we have yet to see any of the native robots like the ones from season three of the original G1 cartoon. There is a good chance that we may finally see Hot Rod, Blur, and so on in Transformers 3. Fingers crossed!
