Last year we reported that Michael Jackson’s “Captain EO” was set to return at Disneyland sometime in 2010. Well that time has come. Strap on that white glove cause Captain EO’s back in business.
Disney has said that it will not be able to replicate some of the special effects elements from the original film, but it will feature a new 70mm print of the film, and it will sound better much crisper due to acoustic enhancements made to the theater since the film last played there in 1997.
For those of you unfamiliar with the show, Captain EO is a big budget 3D, 70mm, Sci-Fi, fantasy, musical movie attraction that played at Disney Parks. It was produced by George Lucas, Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and stars Michael Jackson (at the peak of his career) and Angelica Houston. At the time of its production, it was the most expensive movie (per minute) ever made.
