Michael Keaton To Replace Hugh Laurie in RoboCop

Is the Batman/ Beatlejuice star the tonic that the film needs to get back on track? That seams to be what Jose Padhilla thinks. The film has been going through some rough patches lately. First it was nailed with a scathing script review and then an admission from Padhilla that filming the movie was hell for him. Then we got news that Hugh Laurie was never really wrapped up in the cast and that negotiations with him had fallen apart.

Now, Deadline is reporting that his empty role has been officially filled by Michael Keaton. He’ll be playing Raymond Sellars, the CEO of Omnicorp.

That means we are still in for a stellar cast as he’ll be joining Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Jennifer Ehle, Michael Kenneth Williams and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.

RoboCop will hit theaters on August 9, 2013.
