It’s always interesting, when the star of a big film comes out 3 days before it’s release to tell everyone that critics will probably hate it, but you should still give it a shot.
I like Miles Teller. I think he’s a great actor with a promising career. I felt the same way about Chris Evans when he was in his own Fantastic Four movies… but I’m surprised that he’d go on record saying something this stupid right before the release of a film that already has fans giving it the stink eye.
it is interesting to note that not even the cast of the film has seen it yet and that FOX has an embargo on all reviews until Wednesday. None of these are generally a good sign for a movie.
Here’s what Teller had to say about his own film:
“Rarely are films of this size critically well received,” said Teller. “This is not a movie we’re going to go on Rotten Tomatoes and it’s going to be at 80 or 90 per cent. We did try to do something more than soulless, popcorn action. We tried to make something coming from a more dramatic standpoint so we’re hoping that people enjoy it and recognize that we’re trying to do something original.”
The guys over at Red Carpet Refs did a little digging over on Rotten Tomatoes and here are the review they came up with:
The Avengers: 92%
The Dark Knight: 94%
Iron Man: 94%
Spider-Man 2: 93%
Ant-Man: 79%
X-Men: 81%
Captain America: The Winter Soldier: 89%
Guardians of the Galaxy: 91%
X-Men: Days of Future Past: 91%
Superman: 93%
Iron Man 2: 72%
Thor: 77%
Iron Man 3: 79%
X-Men: First Class: 87%
x2: X-Men United: 86%
