the first trailer just dropped for Moonfall, the latest apocalypse film from Roland Emmerich. If you don’t know the direct by name, you know him from his love of making movies about the world nearly ending. Some of his greatest hits include Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012. In his new film, it won’t be global warming or a Mayan calendar that has its sights on the Earth, it will be what appears to be nanotech living inside the moon preparing to crash it into the planet.

It’s a weird concept, but weird can be a lot of fun, especially when you bring along Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and Donald Sutherland along the way.

“With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley), believe her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.”
