Finally, some casting news for Akira that doesn’t make me ill. Last week we reported that Zac Efron might be taking the lead role of Kaneda in the upcoming live action remake of ‘Akira.’ Many fans are still weeping at that news. Now it looks like we might have something a little better to look forward to.
Word is that actor and narrator extraordinaire, Morgan Freeman, its possibly going to be cast as the Colonel in the film. He definitely brings some credibility to the project, but I’m still worried that if Efron comes on board, we will get a watered down version aimed at the tweens who went nutty over him in High School Musical.
