‘Mortal Kombat’ Reboot Casts Raiden, Jax, and Mileena

Just a few hours after today’s report that Ludi Lin would be joining the new Mortal Kombat film as Liu Kang, we are now getting word from THR that the roles of Raiden, Jax, and Mileena have also now be cast.

First up is Mehcad Brooks, best known as Jimmy Olsen on the CW’s Supergirl. After getting his beak wet on fight scenes for the DC superhero show, he’ll now be duking it out as Jax in the franchise reboot. Tadanobu Asano, who most recently appeared as Hogun, one of the Warriors Three in Marvel’s Thor movies will be playing Raiden, and Aussie newcomer Sisi Stringer will be joining the film as Mileena. Along with Lin, the trio will also be joined by Joe Taslim, who was previously cast as Sub-Zero.

The film is being produced by Aquaman director James Wan and directed by commercial director Simon McQuoid. No plot details have been announced, but we assume it will involve people battling it out in some sort of “mortal combat.”

The film is set to film later this year in Australia with a release set for sometime in 2021.
