In preparation for G.I Joe: Retaliation, I finally bit the bullet and watched the first film, Rise of Cobra. Wow… I knew it was going to suck, but I didn’t think I could ever wish a movie was a person just so I could kick them in the junk.
Thankfully, the sequel is looking like it could be good enough to make up for the steaming turd that we endured in 2009. It seems like the only things they are carrying over are Channing Tatum as Duke, Ray Park as Snake Eyes and the fact that the president of the US is really Zartan.
Anyways, it really is looking better. I’d rather watch these new trailers 20 times than ever watch the whole first movie again.
This new trailer comes out of France and it gives us our longest look at Cobra Commander in a scene with President Zartan.
Here’s a brief film synopsis:
A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO and di Bonaventura Pictures, commences production on G.I. JOE: RETALIATION. In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
