Not too long ago, news broke that National Treasure 3 would finally become a reality. Now, a new interview with Jerry Bruckheimer reveals that the franchise isn’t just getting a new movie, it’s also getting a new series on Disney+.
If you are expecting Nicholas Cage to jump onto the small screen for another series after he finishes up portraying Joe Exotic in the recently announced Netflix Tiger King drama, don’t get too excited. the new series will focus on a younger cast. Here’s what the producer told Collider:
“We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active….The one for Disney+ is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast. The one for theatrical would be the same cast.”
There’s no word yet on the direction of the show, but we do know that the pilot has been written and the series does have an outline for moving forward.
